But how do we achieve health and more importantly, maintain it?
This is a question that CrossFit has been firmly founded on. There’s actually one more definition that we need to clear up before we dive into the how, and that is fitness.
So fitness is actually a means of maintaining health and wellness.
We’ve all got different reasons why we want to exercise. For me, it’s to delay, for as long as I can, that scene with me sitting in the doctor’s office, my doctor showing and saying, “I’m sorry, but you have…”. You can fill in the blank there.
I know that we can’t run from disease forever, but my goal is to make the most out of this life in a physically and mentally healthy state – which is why I pursue fitness.
So how do you go about doing that? Here’s CrossFit’s summary of Fitness in 100 words.
It’s that simple. And that great thing is that it can be fun. It’s about sport and play, not about sitting on a machine at the gym doing 8 reps over and over again.
It’s about being able to move the way you want to, when you want to, and not holding yourself back from going out on a hike because you’re afraid you won’t be able to keep up.
